 Hello Lavender Friends!

We've been busy stocking up our products this Fall and getting ready for the holiday season.

The leaves are finally turning color, so that means Holiday Markets are not far away!

We will be a vendor at the wonderful Fernwood Holiday Market on Saturday, November 2nd from 10 am to 5 pm. This market always has a great selection of vendors, with many new ones each year.  They also have an exclusive preview party the Friday evening before (tickets required).  Here is a link to their site for more information:

It's been a busy fall at Lavender Hill Farm. In September we planted over 1100 new lavender plants of several varieties. We plan to plant another 1100 plants next Spring. So far the new plants look pretty happy! To protect them over the winter we are going to try at least a couple different methods.  Common methods include straw cover, burlap or white synthetic fabric row covers that are sold by many landscape supply companies. It's best not to cover them for winter too early though, or they may keep growing under the covering. Waiting till temperatures are consistently at or below 35 degrees and before temps dip down near single digits is a good guideline. Remember, winter damage occurs not just from extreme cold, but desiccation from cold winds can also cause damage to the top-growth. So wind breaks are also beneficial.

We are also planning some open houses at the farm later this fall, more on that soon.

Until then, Happy Fall!

Martha
